Compal Electronics will move its 3G, CDMA (Code Division and Multiple Access) and PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) R&D and sales teams to its daughter company Compal Communications. The transfer is meant to further flesh out product lines by leveraging the different technological and sales scopes formerly divided between the two units.

Previously, Compal Communications handled business from large-volume clients and concentrated on GSM/GPRS and Smartphone handset development. Compal Electronics focused on channel player business in addition to development of 3G, CDMA, and PDA.
